|Plein air artist and program founder Joan Polishook|
Come Paint With Me plein air painters now in its 19th year, continues to offer the FREE outdoor painting program to adult and serious young artists. Scaled down this year the sessions are designed in a way that will allow artists to explore new horizons on their own.
During the months of July and August the schedule will include a return to favorite sites. June, and the latter part of August through mid September will give everyone the opportunity to paint at places of one's own choosing. A suggested list of public friendly sites is available below with this year's schedule.
Having learned the drill over the years, most will remember to arrive at the sites at 10 AM equipped with tote bags bulging with materials, easels and not to forget a brown bag lunch. A search begins for choosing the most inspiring scenic views from which to draw or paint. The casual weekly treks bring together old friends while welcoming new artists; all who share a common interest in the arts through plein air painting. On site, their individual interpretations emerge on paper and canvas, a record of their impressions of the natural surround. Many of the specially chosen sites are familiar places that have nourished the artists' creative appetites in the past and continue to spark further growth and development of their artistic skills.
All artists will have the opportunity to have their works showcased in a special group show open to plein air painters. PLEIN AIR - ALL SEASONS will take place at The Gallery @ Chant Realtors in Lords Valley, PA during the months of November/December.
An overwhelming response to Come Paint With Me these past 19 years attests to its value in contributing enormously to the artists in ways that have energized the confidence of those just starting out and adding support to the creative integrity of the more accomplished. Though there is no formal instruction given, time is set aside at each session for sharing and gentle critique, a chance to learn from one another, and perhaps gain new perspectives, guidance and inspiration.
Please join me and your fellow artists this year as we look forward once again to sharing creative moments with each other.

From brush to pen, my writing muse continues to inspire me and I am writing more short stories creative fiction rather than memoir. My newest book Poetry and Paint, copies still available has captured the hearts of many.
The Hemlock Writers of which I am a member has published a third anthology, a project which I have played a role in coordinating with Marianna Knowles, Kathy Grimaldi, Lorraine Davis, Kathy McNamara, my graphic designer daughter Emily Thompson and Spenser Printing of Hinsdale, P:A.
I have recently met several new artists and writers here in the Hemlock Community and I am pleased to support their interests in the arts and welcome them to participate in the local shows and organizations. Each month I write a column for the Hemlock News called "Arts Up" and try to reach out to those in the community who have an interest in the arts.
Copies of THE HOUSE ON THE SIXTH FLOOR, are all sold out, but are still available from http://www.lulu.com/ and also from http://www.amazon.com. I still have a few copies of BOUQUET a collection of short stories depicting interesting characters, exciting events and special things all gathered from the seeds of memory. On the Gallery Scene, these paintings and others can be viewed on my website. I am constantly painting and always have new work available at my studio by appointment.
